I want to start a business in the sims 2 open for business. I remember trying once and it was too difficult even though Ive been playing the sims forever.
I would like to open a clothing store, cosmetology, and a bakery. (at different times of course)
I cant even find anything for the cosmetology business, does anyone know where to find things for this?
Any tips on ANY of the business would be appreciated, but especially those 3. Thanks:)

  1. Free Screensavers Says:

    Hide Folders

You can do a home based business, or buy a community lot.

Either way, start small, and build the business up as your business rank grows. The mistake I always made starting up was to build a HUGE shop and have lots of stuff, but it never seemed to work right.

If you want the shop on a commercial lot, build the shop in the neighborhood view and then pick up the phone from home and have your sim buy it.

If you want a home based business, have your sim pick up the phone from home and pick the business option. Then you will need part of your home lot to dedicate to a shop area. You’ll also need to do some crowd control to keep idiot customers from wandering into your master bedroom and getting mad because no one runs up there to show them the store which is downstairs and next to the garage.

After you open the business, you need at least one sim to run it, and open/closed sign (from the decorations catalog) a cash register and at least one item for sale.

For cosmetology you need any of the make up stations or furniture, and a sim to man the chair and offer haircuts/makeovers.

Make sure that there is a bathroom available for your customers or staff to use. You might want to provide a sofa for them to gain comfort.

I opened an art gallery, using the Larson twins. He painted, and I had her making floral arrangements. You can also sell anything in the game catalog, so I also sold regular paintings, sculptures, pots and other decorative items.

A small store can be run by a single sim, with maybe a second sim to help out when the first one needs a break. If you are doing a bakery, restaurant, flowershop or any kind of business that requires crafted goods you will have to have a skilled sim make the objects from the right tool (stove, crafting stations, etc). If your crafting sim isn’t good enough, it limits what you can sell, or if they will be made properly.

ALWAYS have a cashier available (non restaurant/beauty shop). They can really make or break a sale if there is a long line to check out.

You can find much of the items you need for businesses in the game buy-mode catalog business section (available after you start the business). Just remember to keep the open/closed sign in the closed position until you are ready for customers to start coming in.

EDIT: Forgot to say – the reason i had one sims crafting flowers is because a gold level flower arranger can make the Snapdragon Bouquet, the greatest non-cheat item in the game. Put these in your shop (but not for sale) and they will boost the mood of any nearby sim, making running the store a snap. The will affect you, customers, reviewers and employees :D
